Leek Moorlands Hospital

Leek Moorlands Hospital has 2 wards, with a total of 44 beds and also has a Minor Injuries & Illnesses Unit.

Services provided at Leek Moorlands Hospital include specialised nursing care for the elderly, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

There is also a Learning and Development Centre which used for staff training and development purposes.

Minor Injuries & Illnesses Unit

This unit provides the first point of call for assessment of minor injury and illness; it is open between 8am and 8pm and provides an excellent nurse-led minor injury and minor illness facility - no appointment needed.

Services provided include:  

  • X-ray facilities (Mon - Fri 8.30am - 12.30pm. Mon, Wed & Thurs 1.30pm - 5pm)
  • Assessment, diagnosis and treatment for broken bones/fractures 
  • Advice/Treatment for muscle and joint injuries e.g. sprains & strains. 
  • Emergency contraception and advice 
  • Advice for bites, stings allergy related issues 
  • The unit can help to treat, ear, throat, urine, eye and some skin infections
  • Wounds requiring insertion/removal of stitches and special care

Examination and advice can be given for a variety of problems however; patients with long standing chest and heart conditions should see their own Doctor.

There are also 2 Wards at Leek Moorlands Hospital providing inpatient services including:

  • Intravenous Therapies e.g. IV antibiotics

Cottage Ward: 

General Information 

This ward has 20 inpatient beds providing adult sub-acute medicine with 10 beds dedicated as direct admission from home, thus supporting admission avoidance initiatives into acute hospital services and 10 intermediate care beds.

The ward also has one supportive therapies bed providing day case blood transfusions and varying Intravenous therapies. 

 

Saddler Ward: 

General Information 

This ward has 21 beds and providing consultant-led rehabilitation care to male and female patients mainly aged over 65.

The Ward provides Consultant/GP led support and rehabilitation for patients who have had an acute episode of illness and are now recovering. These patients may require  further nursing and/ or  therapy support & intervention to enable them to return home as independently as possible. The ward works within a multidisciplinary framework.

Our ward has a focus to be a frontline provision bringing quality care closer to home, respecting choice & dignity.

 

Visitng Times for both wards are 2.00pm - 4.00pm and 6.00pm - 8.00pm everyday.
