Minor Injuries Units

Minor Injuries unit

Minor Injuries Units (MIUs) provide treatment for less serious injuries, such as sprains, cuts and grazes.

Many people go to Accident and Emergency (A&E) with minor injuries, when they could usually be treated much more quickly at a Minor Injuries Unit.

We have two Minor Injuries Units across Staffordshire, based at the community hospitals in Leek and Burslem (Haywood)

What do we offer you?

A wide range of conditions can be treated for example:

  • wounds needing stitches
  • rashes
  • ear infections
  • sprains and strains
  • suspected broken bones
  • bites and stings
  • minor head injuries
  • minor burns
  • severe sore throats
  • foreign bodies in the eye

You should attend A&E or call 999 for serious and life-threatening conditions such as severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, suspected strokes, chest pains or breathing difficulties.
