Throughout the year, we offer a free HIV testing drop-in service, with results available in 20 minutes.

The drop-in sessions are held from 5-8pm on the last Wednesday and Thursday of every month (excluding December) at The Piccadilly Centre in Hanley (ST1 1HR). 

The next drop in sessions are:

  • Monday 20th August 10am-3pm
  • Tuesday 21st August 10am-3pm
  • Wednesday 22nd August 10am-3pm (chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing also available for people with no symptoms*)
  • Thursday 23rd August 10am-3pm
  • Friday 24th August 10am-3pm
  • Wednesday 29th August 5-8pm (chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing also available for people with no symptoms*)
  • Thursday 30th August 5-8pm

*If you have symptoms such as an unusual discharge from the penis/vagina or burning when peeing, please visit Cobridge Community Health Centre for a test

Please only visit The Piccadilly Centre during drop-in times listed above. If you visit at any other time we will be unable to provide you with a HIV test.

 

What does the test involve?

The test is a quick fingerprick test and will give you your results in 20 minutes. See our video below for a quick demonstration of what to expect when you come for a HIV fingerprick test.

 

When can I get tested?

We test between 5pm and 8pm at The Piccadilly Project (full address below) on the last Wednesday and Thursday of every month. If you'd like to be tested sooner or on another date, you can visit Cobridge Community Health Centre, who also provide HIV testing.

We will not tell anyone, including partners, parents, teachers, friends, family or doctors that you came to see us unless you ask us to. Anything you say to us will be treated with respect. There are times when confidentiality may need to be broken so that we can protect you under the law. However, we will ALWAYS try and discuss this with you first. For example, if you tell us, or we think you are at risk of danger or harm to yourself and/or others, we will contact the relevant agencies.
